About This Role

A leading Belgium-area IT firm is hiring a Backend Developer to join its software engineering team. You'll design and build backend systems, APIs, and integrations for diverse client projects. You'll work with modern .NET and maintain legacy applications, contribute to system architecture decisions, and collaborate across teams to deliver production-quality solutions.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop backend applications using C# and .NET.
• Build and optimize REST APIs and service-oriented architectures.
• Design scalable, resilient distributed systems and databases.
• Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database schemas.
• Develop unit and integration tests for automated validation.
• Troubleshoot performance, reliability, and production issues.
• Review code and establish engineering best practices with teammates.
• Deploy applications on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Work with Docker containers, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
• Integrate backend services with third-party systems and legacy platforms.

What You'll Need

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Expert-level C# and .NET (modern .NET, .NET Core, or .NET Framework).
• Strong SQL skills and relational database experience.
• Experience designing REST APIs and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
• Automated testing and CI/CD pipeline experience.
• Proficiency with Git version control.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and GCP).

Nice to Have

• Experience maintaining or modernizing legacy .NET Framework applications.
• ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework, or Entity Framework Core.
• Microservices, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• Messaging systems like RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Azure Service Bus.
• Redis or distributed caching technologies.
• Frontend experience with React, Angular, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
