- This is an open continuous announcement that will remain open until December 2nd, 2026 or until all vacancies are filled. Qualified applicants will be considered and referred on a regular basis as vacancies exist. Position(s) listed under this Open Continuous Announcement (OCA) MAY be eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants selected for an EDRP-eligible position will be notified in their conditional job offer. The selectee must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Duties of the Registered Nurse - Community Living Center (CLC) include, but are not limited to: Provide competent, evidence-based nursing care to assigned CLC residents, overseeing LPNs and NAs as appropriate. Support nursing education, orientation, competency validation, and quality-improvement initiatives. Partner with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe and effective care transitions. Apply biopsychosocial concepts, cognitive skills, and technical proficiency in daily nursing practice. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate nursing care. Coordinate resident care with emphasis on education, self-management, and overall satisfaction. Administer medications and perform clinical procedures in accordance with established policies and guidelines. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to influence and improve care outcomes. Consult with MDS nurses to ensure accuracy of RUG scoring when needed. Utilize fundamental critical-thinking skills, seeking guidance appropriately to support high-quality patient care. Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Rotating Day/Nights with holiday and weekend rotations.
