The job, broken down

This is a mobile diesel mechanic role for Miller Truck Leasing, based out of an Albany shop and servicing customer trucks within a 50-60 mile radius using a company vehicle. You'll handle preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Class 1-8 trucks both in the shop and on the road.

What you'd actually do

Start and end each day at the Albany shop, driving a company truck to customer locations
Perform routine preventative maintenance and reconditioning on Class 1-8 vehicles
Diagnose and repair engine fault codes using company-supplied OEM software, following warranty procedures
Repair or replace brakes, steering components, suspension, and perform alignments
Replace clutches and transmissions
Complete Vehicle Condition Reports (DVCRs) on trucks

Must-haves

3+ years experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet mechanic, or heavy equipment mechanic
Experience or formal training diagnosing and repairing Class 1-7 diesel tractors
Valid CDL (Class A or B), or willingness to obtain one with company-provided training assistance
Own hand tools
Ability to work the fixed Monday-Friday daytime schedule

Nice to have

Experience working on refrigeration units (ThermoKing or Carrier)

Miller Transportation Group is immediately hiring a Mobile Diesel Mechanic Technician for our Miller Truck Leasing division in Albany, NY. With over 100 years of experience and upwards of 8,000 trucks on the road, Miller currently operates over 40 Diesel Maintenance shops throughout KY, MD, PA, NJ, NY, CT, MA, and NH. Requirements

You Will:

Perform routine preventative maintenance and general reconditioning of equipment on Class 1 through Class 8 vehicles in the shop or on the road
Diagnose document and repair engine fault codes (Company supplied OEM software) following proper warranty procedures
Repair / Replace brakes steering components suspension and perform alignments
Replace clutches & transmissions

Will start and finish each day in our Albany shop and will support Miller Truck Leasing customers within a 50-60 mile radius of Albany with use of a company truck

Perform Vehicle Condition Reports (DVCR's) on all trucks and perform required work at customer locations throughout the area

You Have:

3 or more years working as a diesel mechanic fleet mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic
Experience or formal training diagnosing repairing and maintaining Class 1-7 diesel tractors
A valid CDL (Class A or B) or the ability to acquire a Commercial Driver License with the assistance of our trainer
Hand tools
Ability to work: Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM
Experience working on Refrigeration Units is desired (ThermoKing or Carrier)
