About the role
The Production Manager oversees all production operations for the plant, directing daily workflow across print, finishing, assembly, and fulfillment to meet quality, schedule, and cost targets. This role is responsible for plant-wide throughput, quality standards, equipment uptime, staffing, and safety, and partners with upstream and downstream functions to keep jobs moving on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all plant production workflow, from job release through final finishing and shipping
- Manage daily scheduling and capacity planning across all production areas to meet promised ship dates
- Own throughput, on-time delivery, and productivity performance against plant targets
- Maintain quality standards and final review processes for all products leaving the plant
- Work with procurement on inventory levels for production materials, consumables, and supplies
- Coordinate equipment scheduling, preventive maintenance, and repairs across the plant
- Supervise production staff, including onboarding, training, cross-training, and performance management
- Identify waste reduction and continuous improvement opportunities
- Coordinate with upstream and downstream functions to keep multi-step jobs on schedule
- Enforce safety protocols and maintain a clean, compliant work environment throughout the plant
- Partner with plant leadership on staffing levels, scheduling, hiring, and disciplinary actions
Requirements
- 5+ years of production management experience in large-format printing, manufacturing, or a comparable production environment
- Demonstrated experience running a full production floor with multiple processes and shifts
- Strong quality control eye for printed and finished products
- Experience supervising, training, and developing a production team
- Understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, and workflow for multi-step jobs
- Experience with cost controls, labor management, and margin performance
- Working knowledge of production equipment maintenance and safety compliance
