About the role

Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, mission-aligned Data Manager to support our K-12 After-School programming.

The Data Manager will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.

We are currently seeking a Data Manager to ensure that all data is cleaned, organized, and in compliance with HCZ/Promise Academy and program guidelines. The ideal candidate has exceptional data management and analytical skills, including strong attention to detail, is familiar with database systems and Microsoft Excel, and is professional, creative, and enthusiastic about working in a community-based organization.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma with at least 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to pass an MS Excel test
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Zora, or other large data management systems

What You’ll Do

  • Ensure primary data systems and secondary systems are utilized to their full potential; provide support to staff to ensure effectiveness.
  • Implement processes to maintain data integrity within our systems
  • Regularly evaluate existing systems to identify areas where needed information is not effectively captured and reported; propose innovative solutions to these challenges
  • Accomplish day-to-day work operations by establishing and managing data processes to track comprehensive student information in an easily accessible and accurate fashion
  • Supervise, manage, and counsel Data Aides to ensure their steady growth and success
  • Review all stages of the data life cycle for accuracy and completeness
  • Create spreadsheets to track daily/weekly attendance and progress toward site goals
  • Generate and analyze site-specific data reports, including aggregate data snapshots, to assess for trends around student participation, involvement in specific program activities, academic achievement, progress towards goal completion, and the like
  • Share report analysis with the Director and Assistant Director(s), helping them to interpret reports and clarify focus areas for site participants
  • Identify and implement strategies to leverage data to improve program performance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Who You Are

  • Dedication and commitment to the mission of the Harlem Children’s Zone.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, must pass MS Excel test to demonstrate skill level
  • Must have strong leadership and organizational skills; supervisory experience a plus
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Must be flexible and possess the ability to work under pressure
  • Familiar with issues prevalent in under-served communities
  • Ability to understand, interpret and present data interpretations
  • Ability to plan and oversee a work plan and project, modifying as needed and working with a team to drive projects through to completion
  • Acute attention to detail coupled with the ability to think and act strategically; able to keep complete and accurate records
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other large data management systems preferred
  • Experience with the Department of Youth & Community Development data systems, a huge plus

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday
  • 11 AM - 7 PM: Promise Academy After-School
  • 10 AM - 6 PM: Peacemakers

The annual salary range for this position is $45,000 - $ 50,000, with a comprehensive benefits package that includes employer-covered health insurance.
