The Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties Inc. is looking to fill a full-time Residential Program Director position.

MHACG's Licensed Treatment Community Residence provides rehabilitative support, recovery, and clinical services for those with severe, persistent mental illness. Staff are on duty 24 hours with on-call procedures for emergency situations. The Program is to enhance the options of participants for choosing, accessing, and maintaining preferred permanent housing, and to provide the support needed to maximize the recipient's successful integration into independent community living. The program relies on the participants to play an active role in both identifying their housing needs, and in actively pursuing the skills needed to succeed in this housing choice.

Position Type: Full Time-40 Hours/Exempt 

Pay Range: $62,353.20 annually

Work Location: 30 High Cliff Terrace, Catskill, NY 12414

Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm with some evenings and weekends based on program needs 

Job Duties Include:

  • Responsible for all program staff, including hiring, supervision, evaluations, development, scheduling, on-call policy and procedures, and oversight of staff job performance in general.      
  • Ensures that all new employees receive the Agency Orientation Program. 
  • Ensures quality of program charts, including maintenance of current service plans, assessments, quarterly reviews, goal-oriented progress notes, as well as the upkeep of required forms, and charts meeting all required regulations. 
  • Coordinates with Chief of Residential and/or Chief of Human Resources remediation of any staff related problems. 
  • Overseas and coordinates admission of residents and orients residents to agency and program policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates with Chief of Residential Services all financial considerations of the program, consumer and program related. 
  • Implements all policies and directives established by The Office of Mental Health (OMH), and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), as they relate to operation of the Programs, as directed by Chief of Residential Services. 
  • Consults with Chief of Residential Services for purposes of improving the ongoing operations of all residential programs. 
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative liaisons with all outside agencies.
  • Meets and exceeds all requirements set forth in the Job Description of Residence Counselors under the areas of Counseling and Problem Solving, training in Daily Living Skills, Medication Management Training and Procedures.
  • Overseas the Senior Counselor and other program staff in meeting Case Management needs of residents.
  • Maintains and oversees accurate records of the program, whether consumer or program related. 
  • Overseas the integration of residents into the community, via work, educational, social, vocational, recreational and rehabilitation channels. 
  • Overseas diets and nutritional requirements of residents and assists staff in providing inclusive care and opportunities.
  • Overseas and coordinates general maintenance and upkeep of the program by striving to maintain a high level of safe physical environment including assurance of neat, uncluttered and sanitary living conditions. 
  • Reports malfunctions of equipment and report facility and property related problems to the Chief of Residential Services.
  • Supervise, ensure and comply with all safety training, tests and drills, in accordance with all regulatory policies.
  • Conduct regular house meetings to encourage residents to participate in recreational and educational activities and address residents' concerns.
  • Ensure that all staff are aware of community resources that are available to residents. 
  • Through other public and private agencies, advocates for various forms of assistance for residents, including, but not necessarily limited to financial, medical, vocational, educational, clinical and rehabilitation. 
  • Create a cohesive staff.
  • Participates in the on-call rotation for the Residential Division.

Requirements

  • Required to be a Qualified Mental Health Staff (QMHS), which means the candidate would need to possess High School diploma or equivalency and have 5 years of experience in the field or
  • Possess an associate’s degree in a human services field plus 3 years’ experience or
  • Possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a Human Services Field.
  • Remain non-judgmental and have an understanding of cultural family differences and values.
  • Must understand and adhere to HIPPA privacy laws.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate competency in Windows operating environment using MS Office applications, database, e-mail and internet programs. 
  • Must be able to work regularly outside the office, residential building and in the field to engage with clients.
  • Must maintain a NYS driver’s license with MVR eligible for agency insurance coverage and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of urban, suburban and rural cultures and with community members from varying socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Successfully attends, pass and maintains all required certifications (i.e. CPR and First Aid).
  • Regular and steady attendance is a requirement for all positions.
