Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Firefighter (BLS) located at Fort Myer, VA. This position is included under the provisions of Special Retirement Coverage (SRC) and may have both a maximum entry age and a mandatory retirement date. - Serve as a Firefighter Driver/Operator/Hazardous Materials Technician/Basic Life Support.
- Assigned to a crew engaged in structural firefighting, rescue, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) incident response functions.
- Drives and operates firefighting/rescue vehicles, participates in rescue operations to include confined space, high-angle, and other special operations.
- Performs noninvasive emergency medical procedures to provide Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Maintains ambulance equipment such as backboards, suction devices, monitors, oxygen delivery systems and orders supplies as needed.
- Performs fire protection/prevention inspections.
- Performs maintenance, operational, housekeeping, emergency and stand by duties as necessary.
