About the role
Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as a 2nd Assistant Engineer on a Class I diesel/electric powered pipeline dredge (18" discharge and over). The incumbent will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all engine room.Duties
- Maintain continuous operating efficiency to prevent damage to machinery.
- Check and control operation of heating, refrigerating, plumbing, and water supply for the dredge.
- Observe gages such as pressure gages, vacuum gages, fuel oil gages, tachometers, pyrometers, etc., to determine the proper functioning of machinery.
- Repair engine room machinery as outlined by Chief Engineer and/or technical specifications.
- Repair fuel lines, grinding valves, cylinders, pistons, and shears in auxiliary pumps and machinery.
