About the role

Summary

This is a Title 32 dual status position that requires active membership in the Texas Air National Guard. The position is located at the 149th Fighter Wing, Kelly AFB, San Antonio, TX. The purpose of this position is to act as the crew chief with responsibility for directing the total maintenance effort on individually assigned aircraft. Texas is one of 9 states with NO state income tax.

Duties

  • As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (Title 32) with the Texas National Guard, your duties will include, but will not be limited to: Directs, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more aircraft. Ensures aircraft documentation and Maintenance Information Systems(MIS) accurately reflect the airworthiness of the Aircraft. Performs in-process and final inspection of aircraft and components undergoing repair, overhaul and/or modification to verify and certify by signature adherence to work techniques, procedures and quality standards established by applicable publications. Plans, develops and conducts training during the technician work week to a multi facet workforce comprised of from 3 to 8 assigned military positions. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises and Operations Other Than War (OOTW). Complies with safety, fire, security, environmental and housekeeping regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Appointment Factor(s): This is an Excepted Service position that requires active membership in a compatible military assignment in the Texas Air National Guard (TXANG) and wear of the military uniform. Areas of Consideration: Nationwide. This includes: All currently employed full-time permanent, indefinite and temporary personnel of the Texas Air National Guard. All current members of the Texas Air National Guard and individuals eligible for membership in the Texas Air National Guard. Remarks: Veterans' preference is not applicable to this position. The Texas National Guard is an Equal Opportunity employer. Texas Air National Guard Membership is required. Trial period required (see additional information) Direct deposit is mandatory. Military Requirements: For Dual-Status Technician positions service affiliation under Title 32 USC 709 is required. Military skill set is determined by AFSC/MOS requirements. Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC/MOS per statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC/MOS. AFSC/MOS: 2A3X3, 2A3X5, 2A3X7, 2A3X8, 2A5X4 Military Grades: E-3 (A1C) Not to Exceed a E-5 (SSgt)
