PCB Layout Designer

📍 Cleveland, Ohio (On-site)

💰 $80,000 – $100,000 + Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits

About the Opportunity

Our client is a nationally recognized product innovation and engineering firm that has spent decades partnering with Fortune 1000 companies, emerging startups, and nonprofit organizations to bring breakthrough products to market. Their multidisciplinary teams develop cutting-edge consumer products, medical devices, connected technologies, and advanced manufacturing solutions.

Known for their collaborative, under-one-roof development model, they combine industrial design, engineering, prototyping, and commercialization to rapidly transform ideas into successful products. Their track record includes thousands of patents and an exceptional history of bringing innovative products from concept to market.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about PCB layout and wants to see their work become real-world, commercialized products rather than remaining as concepts.

The Role

As a PCB Layout Designer, you'll be responsible for translating electrical schematics into high-performance, manufacturable PCB layouts across a diverse range of products and industries.

Working in a fast-paced product development environment, you'll collaborate closely with electrical engineers and cross-functional teams to optimize designs for signal integrity, manufacturability, thermal performance, and overall product reliability.

This is a hands-on role designed for someone who views PCB layout as their long-term technical specialty—not as a stepping stone into electrical engineering.

Responsibilities

Convert electrical schematics into optimized PCB layouts for production

Manage multiple projects simultaneously with varying timelines

Collaborate with electrical engineers, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders

Design boards with consideration for:

Signal integrity

EMI/EMC compliance

Thermal performance

Manufacturability (DFM/DFA)

Support products throughout the development lifecycle from concept through production

Quickly iterate designs in a dynamic engineering environment

Qualifications

Experience

5–15+ years of PCB layout/design experience (10+ years preferred)

Experience within product development, engineering consulting, or design services environments is highly preferred

Background in medical devices, IoT, consumer electronics, or related industries is a plus

Independent consulting experience is also valued

Software

Experience with one or more of the following:

Altium Designer (preferred)

Siemens Expedition

PADS

Technical Skills

High-speed PCB design

Mixed-signal layouts (analog, digital, RF)

Signal integrity principles

EMI/EMC design considerations

Thermal management

Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)

The Ideal Candidate

Takes pride in producing clean, high-quality PCB layouts

Thrives in a fast-paced, multi-project environment

Communicates effectively with engineers and technical teams

Highly detail-oriented and organized

Passionate about PCB layout as a long-term technical career

What This Role Is Not

A transition path into electrical engineering or schematic design

A slow-paced, single-project environment

A role with limited visibility into the finished product

Low-volume or repetitive maintenance work

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

Work on a diverse portfolio of innovative products across multiple industries

See your designs become commercially released products

Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and product development teams

Gain exposure to the complete product development lifecycle

Join a highly respected innovation-focused organization known for bringing products from concept to commercialization quickly and successfully
