Role Summary
As a Tax Manager, you will lead tax planning, preparation, and compliance work for a diverse client base while building meaningful, long-term relationships with the people we serve. You'll own the technical excellence and client communication that define our practice, growing your expertise in partnership taxation, corporate structures, and strategic tax advisory. Key Responsibilities
- You will prepare and review federal and state tax returns for partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, and other business entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- You'll lead tax planning engagements to identify opportunities for tax savings and help clients understand the implications of business decisions on their tax position.
- You will perform audit, review, and compilation engagements, exercising professional judgment to assess risks and communicate findings to clients and management.
- You'll manage client relationships by maintaining clear, proactive communication about tax strategies, deadlines, and year-end planning needs.
- You will supervise and develop junior accounting staff, providing guidance on technical matters and helping them grow their tax knowledge.
- You'll stay current on tax law changes and apply new developments to client situations, ensuring our advice remains relevant and effective.
- You will collaborate with other team members to ensure quality control and meet client and internal deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Valid CPA license (required; current in your state of licensure).
- Minimum 5+ years of professional accounting experience, with substantial focus on tax preparation and planning.
- Strong experience preparing individual and business tax returns and managing tax compliance engagements.
- Demonstrated experience with audit, review, or compilation services.
- Ability to work primarily onsite in our Westlake, Ohio office with occasional remote work flexibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working at a national or regional accounting firm, such as a Big 6 or mid-sized firm.
- Knowledge of accounting software and tax preparation platforms (ProSeries, Lacerte, or similar tools).
- Experience mentoring or supervising accounting or tax staff.
- Background working with multi-entity tax situations or international tax considerations.
