About This Role

Property Accountant

Cleveland, Ohio | Full-Time | Hybrid

Manage the financial operations of a commercial real estate portfolio. You'll prepare financial statements, reconcile accounts, and partner with property managers and leadership to drive accurate reporting and financial insights.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties.
  • Record journal entries, accruals, depreciation, and amortization.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and tenant billings monthly.
  • Calculate and manage Common Area Maintenance (CAM) charges and tenant rent.
  • Analyze operating results and explain variances to management.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting for your property portfolio.
  • Assist with audit and tax preparation workpapers as needed.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience in commercial real estate or property management.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (required).
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Yardi or MRI (accounting/Enterprise Resource Planning system).
  • CAM reconciliation experience.
  • Knowledge of real estate accounting principles and practices.
