Property Accountant
Cleveland, Ohio | Full-Time | Hybrid
Manage the financial operations of a commercial real estate portfolio. You'll prepare financial statements, reconcile accounts, and partner with property managers and leadership to drive accurate reporting and financial insights.
What You'll Do
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties.
- Record journal entries, accruals, depreciation, and amortization.
- Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and tenant billings monthly.
- Calculate and manage Common Area Maintenance (CAM) charges and tenant rent.
- Analyze operating results and explain variances to management.
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting for your property portfolio.
- Assist with audit and tax preparation workpapers as needed.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of accounting experience in commercial real estate or property management.
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (required).
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Yardi or MRI (accounting/Enterprise Resource Planning system).
- CAM reconciliation experience.
- Knowledge of real estate accounting principles and practices.
