RECREATION ASSISTANT (FITNESS/SPORTS) - DIX

About the position: This position is Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to Griffith Field House and Doughboy Gym, Fort Dix, NJ.

Duties

• Performs a variety of duties and responsibilities in support of day-to-day operation of the JB-MDL Fitness Center. Serves as desk attendant ensuring only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment and adhere to Fitness Center policy. Greets visitors, answers telephones, makes reservations for classes or use of equipment and facilities, and provides information on scheduled events and classes. Provides assistance and basic instruction to patrons in proper use of exercise machines and equipment. Issues sports equipment and completes required documentation for transactions. Inspects returned equipment noting damage. Inspects all equipment and facilities according to established standards and local fire and safety procedures. Reports damaged exercise/sports equipment to supervisor. Performs opening and closing procedures of facilities in accordance with written guidelines. Assists in advertising and recruiting participants for intramural teams, tournaments and special events. May be required to schedule and administer these activities in the capacity of a tournament director. Ensures activities are properly scheduled, facilities are set up and rules and regulations are observed. Assist patrons with interpretation of intramural sports rules. Prepares invoice for payment for instructional programs and sports officials. Performs other related duties as assigned. Education
