Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award up to $200,000 & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. The incumbent will spend most of their time consultations, follow-up visits, and longitudinal disease in the clinical management in patients with a diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease. The incumbent can work as a clinical investigator in outcomes or health services research, translational research, or research in applied clinical informatics. The incumbent's research involvement will need to be discussed with the Section Chief of Gastroenterology. When the incumbent is not scheduled in IBD clinic, it will be expected for the incumbent to perform outpatient endoscopy in the GI Endoscopy Suite or other approved procedural areas. The incumbent will be expected to participate in on call duties with the GI fellow. The duties for inpatients include but are not limited to: participation in rotational call coverage on nights and weekends provide timely documentation and communication with the inpatient teams. after-hours consultative GI care which will include emergencies or urgent presentations support for hospitalized patients requiring urgent diagnostic or therapeutic intervention emergency endoscopic evaluations provide supervision, instruction, and mentorship to internal medicine residents and medical students The incumbent will be expected to competently understand General Gastroenterology General Hepatology The incumbent will be expected to competently perform: Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) Colonoscopy with biopsy, polypectomy, control of bleeding PEG placement Additional procedures depending on credentialed privileges adherence to RME reprocessing, infection prevention protocols, and safe procedural processes Other duties as assigned Work Schedule: Full Time
