Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in supporting KMSA’s manufacturing operations by combining hands-on technical testing expertise with process engineering and continuous improvement. This position is responsible for executing advanced product testing, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and helping develop and optimize manufacturing processes for KMSA’s imaging colorimeters, photometers, radiometers, and related systems.
Working closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production, the Manufacturing Engineer evaluates existing processes, improves test methodologies, identifies opportunities for greater efficiency and consistency, and supports best practices across the production environment. The role also serves as a technical resource for the manufacturing team, providing guidance and mentorship to junior technicians while helping resolve product and process challenges.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical and analytical skills, hands-on testing experience, and a continuous improvement mindset. Success in this role requires the ability to investigate problems methodically, collaborate effectively across functions, and translate technical findings into practical improvements that support product quality, reliability, and manufacturing excellence at Konica Minolta Sensing Americas.
Requirements
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Develop, execute, and optimize detailed test plans to assess product functionality, performance, and reliability.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot testing equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
• Support manufacturing process improvements by evaluating workflows, space requirements, and equipment/workspace layouts.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues promptly using structured problem solving.
• Perform software and hardware testing and calibration; support troubleshooting of custom calibration software and hardware.
• Analyze test data to identify trends, anomalies, and performance insights; generate comprehensive reports detailing findings.
• Drive design of experiments (DoE) to analyze and improve production processes.
• Work with Quality Assurance teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and company quality policies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, and QA to address issues and improve overall product quality.
• Support cross-functional initiatives to drive cost, schedule, and manufacturing capacity improvements.
• Serve as a liaison for process transfer and validation between Redmond and APAC manufacturing teams.
• Utilize lean methods such as 5S and kaizen to drive continuous improvement throughout the operations environment.
• Train and mentor junior test technicians and production operators on lean principles and manufacturing/testing processes.
Desired Skills & Experience
• Associate’s degree in Electronics, or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a production or technical manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of electricity, electronics, and electronic assembly, including ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Familiarity with at least one programming language: C#, C++, C, and/or Python; exposure to software development tools is beneficial.
• Comfortable working in a mathematically driven engineering environment.
• Ability and willingness to learn new technical subjects including optics, photometry, and metrology.
• Excellent judgment in solving problems, with a keen ability to identify issues in advance and propose/enact solutions.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain an orderly work environment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Explorer, Outlook, and Access.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Enthusiastic, with emphasis on quality and dependability.

BASE PAY RANGE:
$95,000 - $105,000 DOS/E
This position is eligible for experience specific compensation ranges based on candidate experience; compensation will be aligned and determined based on these criteria. Fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges. Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to experience levels, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
