You will conduct actor-centric and network-centric investigations, proactively identify sophisticated threat actors and abuse patterns, and develop high-quality investigative work product that supports internal decision-making and, where appropriate, external law-enforcement engagement. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional investigations background, strong analytical tradecraft, and a demonstrated ability to connect fragmented internal and external signals into clear, defensible investigative findings. They will be an innovative self-starter, a collaborative partner across functions, and someone motivated by Roblox’s mission of connecting a billion people with optimism and civility. Through your work, you will become an expert in Roblox’s internal and external safety practices, advance our investigative capabilities and playbooks, and work across a variety of systems and data sources to surface, analyze, and ultimately disrupt high-risk actors, networks, and behaviors. Please note: This role will require reviewing graphic, controversial, and offensive content in accordance with Roblox’s handling policies. This role may also require participation in an on-call rotation during weekends and holidays. <h2>You Will</h2> <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Conduct deep-dive investigations into severe abuse on and around the platform, including cases involving child exploitation, violent extremism, organized criminal activity, and other complex abuse ecosystems.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Perform actor-centric and network-centric investigations that connect activity across accounts, services, platforms, and other relevant data sources.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Proactively hunt for threats, undetected abuse, and emerging risk patterns by leveraging internal datasets, open-source intelligence, and other investigative resources.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Apply analytical rigor to investigations while identifying strategic opportunities to improve systems, tools, processes, and detection capabilities.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Develop proactive leads from intelligence reporting, law enforcement indicators, media reporting, partner referrals, and open-source research.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Draft professional investigative work product for internal and external audiences, supported by clear, concise, and multi-sourced evidence.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Prepare complex referrals, supplements, strategic write-ups, and post-mortems that can withstand external scrutiny.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Safety Intelligence, Law Enforcement Operations, Product, Engineering, Policy, and other teams to drive high-confidence safety outcomes.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Translate investigative findings into concrete recommendations for policy, tooling, product, engineering, and operational improvements.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Help build and mature investigative playbooks, templates, standards, and methodologies for the broader Safety Investigations function.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Support especially sensitive, high-priority, and time-sensitive escalations with sound judgment, discretion, and urgency.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Coach junior teammates on analytic tradecraft and investigative work.</li> </ul> <h2>You Have</h2> <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">7+ years of experience conducting complex investigations in law enforcement, intelligence, trust and safety, cybersecurity, or an adjacent field.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Significant experience conducting deep-dive, attribution-focused, or threat-led investigations involving sophisticated actors, broader networks, or cross-platform harms.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Advanced Proficiency using SQL and/or Python, large datasets, and open-source intelligence in an investigative context.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Strong experience synthesizing fragmented evidence into clear, defensible investigative narratives and recommendations.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce polished work product and influence cross-functional stakeholders.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Strong judgment in navigating legal, policy, reputational, and operational considerations in sensitive investigative matters.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Agility to navigate ambiguity, resilience to overcome obstacles, and the internal drive to manage multiple high-profile, time-sensitive initiatives in a dynamic environment.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">A track record of proactively identifying gaps, developing new investigative approaches, and improving operational effectiveness over time.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Unwavering integrity, collegiality, and grit.</li> </ul>  <div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="description">For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below.
