Summary

This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, District 1-Fort Totten Agency in Fort Totten, North Dakota. Incumbent will perform a variety of functions with directing of a law enforcement program in Indian Country. This position is also open under announcement ST-26-12975007-CAWV-RH. Duties

  • Functions as the Chief of Police for the Agency Law Enforcement program, and exercises delegated technical and supervisory responsibilities.
  • Serve as an advisor to the Special Agent in Charge on the management of data collection and reporting and has responsibility for coordinating the development of monthly performance reports.
  • Evaluates subordinate leaders and evaluates non-supervisory employees with input from the team leaders.
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates and recommends policy for the criminal investigative and police program.
  • Supervises, conducts, and coordinates with other law enforcement agencies extremely sensitive inquiries and investigations involving the BIA law enforcement personnel.
  • Ensures all investigations are properly conducted and documented within prescribed guidelines regarding time frames, deadlines, formats, and submitted to the proper jurisdictional authorities for prosecution of further action.
  • Finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed; recommends changes in workflow to increase efficiency; and promotes team building.
