Summary

About the Position: This position is located with the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, Staff Judge Advocate Office at Scott AFB, IL. If you are currently serving in a permanent, competitive service appointment in the Federal service, and are selected for this position, the appointment will remove you from the competitive service while you occupy this position.

Duties

  • Serves as counselor/legal adviser on all labor issues.
  • Represents the headquarters and entire command on civilian personnel, labor relations, and equal employment opportunity matters.
  • Establishes case strategy and tactics for difficult cases where clearly applicable precedents may not exist because of unique issues or the complexity of facts.
  • Advices on the impact of changes in procurement laws, rules, and regulations to the acquisition function.
  • Assists in representing the Government in bid protests before the Government Accounting Office by providing litigation support while exercising an in-depth knowledge of Government contracting and fiscal law.
  • Provides legal advice to headquarters and subordinate commands on highly complex matters related to the Defense Transportation System (DTS).
  • Provides oral and written advice concerning the interpretation and application of Federal and State statutes, DoD and Army regulations, and policies regarding diverse administrative and civil law issues.
