Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is a vacancy for either a Lock and Dam Repairer Helper WG-5318-05 target 08 or a Lock and Dam Repairer, WG-5318-08 target 10, in the Maintenance Section located in Peoria, IL. - Perform general maintenance and repair tasks on lock and dam equipment machinery and structures located at lock and dam sites along the Illinois Waterway.
- Perform more complex phases of maintenance and repair work such as, welding, burning, pipe fitting, concrete removal and placement, industrial painting and sandblasting, crane rigging, deckhand duties etc.
- Reconstruct lock gates, dam gates, filling/emptying valves and other related mechanical components by use of welding machines, oxy/acetylene torches, pneumatic tools etc.
- Rig materials safely for lifting by cranes, hoists or other handling equipment.
- Follow written and oral instructions in accordance with safety procedures and regulations.
- Removal and replacement of concrete components and structures.
