Summary

This position is located at Departmental Offices, Terrorism and Financial Intelligence - Office of Foreign Assets Control. As an Assistant Director Regulatory Affairs, you will implement and administer U.S. sanctions programs, ensure that the sanctions programs are developed, interpreted, and implemented in a manner consistent with pertinent legislation and regulations, foreign policy, national security, and U.S., Treasury, and OFAC strategic objectives.

Duties

  • As an Assistant Director Regulatory Affairs, you will: Play a leading role in shaping OFAC's activities in the development of new Executive Orders and regulatory programs to carry out new sanctions imposed by Congress or the President or to reflect changes in U.S. foreign policy with respect to existing sanctions programs Oversee the Treasury Department's Presidential Documents process with respect to economic sanctions Make major recommendations, decisions, and actions significant to internal and external sanctions programs and regulatory issues affecting national security and foreign policy that are politically sensitive and/or controversial

Requirements

Key Requirements: Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be serving in a position in Schedule Policy/Career of the excepted service. You will obtain competitive status after two years of service in this position [if applicable]. Your employment in this position will be at-will. Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) appeals of adverse actions concerning performance, discipline, and other matters arising under chapters 23, 43, and 75 of title 5, United States Code will not be available to an individual serving in this position. Prohibitions on prohibited personnel practices will be enforced by Treasury and not the Office of Special Counsel. Must successfully complete a background investigation. All new hires will be required to comply with federal ethics laws. A review of financial or other interests may be conducted to determine if they create any real or apparent conflict of interests with official Treasury duties. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so. Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel. File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on, if required. Undergo an income tax verification, if required.
