Summary

This position is part of the Haskell Indian Nations University, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), Department of the Interior (DOI). As a Facility Operations Specialist you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing various programs and projects across the campus. This includes determining the maintenance and upkeep requirements of assigned facilities elements and managing procurement, projects, and contracts for these and other programs.

Duties

  • As a Facility Operations Specialist, GS-1640-12, your typical work assignments will include the following under supervision: Manages project execution, to include project initiation, scope development, cost estimates, design coordination, DSRM review, construction oversight, inspection scheduling, punch list development, and project closeout. Manages complex, multi-phase construction, renovations, and deferred maintenance projects using advanced knowledge of facilities management and engineering support principles. Uses Maximo or equivalent CMMS/DMWO systems to validate deferred maintenance backlog, develop project priority sequencing processes, track execution, cost escalation, and lifecycle planning. Determines the maintenance and upkeep requirements of assigned facilities elements, programs, and activities as well as managing procurement, projects, and contracts for these and other programs. Develops and communicates emergency scenario plans and schedules routine safety inspections and drills. Conducts routine site safety inspections, hazard analyses, risk assessments, and incident investigations. Ensure all construction and maintenance projects incorporate safety plans, job hazard analyses, and contractor compliance requirements.
