Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SMALL ARMS REPAIRER, Position Description Number PDD1227000 and is part of the KY CSMS, National Guard.Duties
- As a SMALL ARMS REPAIRER, WG-6610-9, you will disassemble weapons, assemblies, subassemblies and other components. Examine for defects, misalignment and malfunctions. Replace barrels, firing pins, springs, trigger mechanisms, shell ejectors, and other parts/assemblies. Modify small weapons by replacing worn or obsolete parts. Perform accurization of national match weapons on a limited basis which includes selecting, fitting, and altering parts. Perform overhaul, maintenance, and repair on a variety of small arms. Diagnose and identify mechanical deficiencies/ malfunctions of weapons. Use micrometer to measure altered tolerances and make additional adjustments as required. Use pre-set specifications to ensure that critical operating tolerances are met. Test fire weapons to ensure that they meet desired performance requirements. Responsible for accountability, storage and security of arms and other sensitive items while they are kept for repair. May serve as a commodity inspector during Command Maintenance Management evaluations (COMET) or as a member of a Maintenance Assistance Instruction Team (MAIT). Perform other duties as assigned.
