Job Description

Are you passionate about helping students build the skills and confidence needed to succeed in college? ATS Institute of Technology is seeking a Student Success Instructor & Learning Specialist to teach our Student Success Seminar and provide academic coaching to students throughout the institution.

This position combines classroom instruction, individual and group support, and student-success programming. The ideal candidate understands how study habits, executive functioning, confidence, and accountability affect student achievement, particularly in a rigorous nursing education environment.

Your Role

You will design and teach Student Success Seminar, a developmental course focused on study strategies, time management, organization, test preparation, critical thinking, professional communication, resilience, and self-directed learning.

A central part of the role is helping students strengthen executive-function skills, including planning, prioritization, task initiation, sustained attention, self-monitoring, and follow-through.

You will also work with the Student Success Department to support individual students and groups identified as needing additional assistance and provide success-focused seminars to students throughout the academic year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach a course in accordance with the approved syllabus and course objectives.
  • Deliver course content in an engaging, student-centered manner consistent with the approved syllabus and learning objectives.
  • Help students create practical academic success plans and stronger systems for managing coursework and deadlines.
  • Provide individual and small-group coaching to students referred for additional support.
  • Strengthen students’ executive-function skills, including planning, prioritization, focus, task completion, and accountability.
  • Develop and present workshops on college success, study strategies, executive functioning, test anxiety, motivation, and related topics.
  • Collaborate with faculty, Student Success, and academic leadership on early intervention and student-support plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of student meetings, referrals, progress, attendance, and course performance.
  • Connect students with tutoring, advising, resources, or other services when appropriate.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and institutional activities as assigned.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: Master’s degree in education, psychology, counseling, student affairs, higher education, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: At least two years of experience in college instruction, academic coaching, tutoring, advising, student success, or a related role.
  • Schedule: Flexibility to support both day and evening students.
  • Attributes:
    • Knowledge of study strategies, executive functioning, time management, test preparation, and adult learning.
    • Strong communication, presentation, organization, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple student appointments, follow-up activities, and documentation.

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $62,000 – $65,000. Compensation is subject to change at the sole discretion of the institution, based on institutional needs.
