Job Summary:

The HR Generalist provides administrative and operational support to the Houston HR team, with a focus on onboarding, employee records, and day-to-day HR operations. This is an entry-level, execution-focused role, well suited to a candidate with coordinator-level experience who is looking to build a foundation for growth within HR.

The HR Generalist reports directly to the Corporate HR Manager and works closely with the HR Business Partner team to keep employee-facing HR operations accurate, timely, and well organized.

Job Duties:

  • Process new hire paperwork, I-9 verification, and onboarding logistics.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR files, including data entry and periodic audits in Paylocity.
  • Support the offboarding process, including exit paperwork, system access removal coordination, and equipment return tracking.
  • Prepare HR correspondence, letters, and documentation as directed.
  • Assist with HR reporting and tracking, including trackers, spreadsheets, and compliance logs.
  • Support employee engagement activities and recognition programs.
  • Respond to routine employee questions on policies, PTO, and general HR matters.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR team.
  • Escalate employee questions or issues appropriately.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in an HR coordinator, HR assistant, or administrative support role.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with an HRIS platform (Paylocity or similar).
  • Exposure to a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Interest in pursuing HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) or further growth within HR.
