Summary

Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

Duties

  • Responsible for the organization, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the following types of education programs: Adult Continuing Education, Literacy, General Education Development, English as a Second Language, parenting education, Post-Secondary Education, Occupational/Vocational education, special learning needs programs, release readiness, and leisure library and law library. Makes periodic evaluations of academic, vocational, and/or recreational programs, and keeps abreast of constantly changing developments. Determines program needs for the total inmate population and is responsible for monitoring the range of programs in both the education and/or recreation areas. Establishes, monitors and maintains management information systems and use of this data to report on program performance and plans for program adjustments. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Requirements
