Senior Power Plant Operator (TC-K)

Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Serves as the senior hydro-station operator in direct charge on a shift, responsible for the operation of a hydroelectric power system with eight generating units, including remotely controlled units.

Duties

• Control and coordinate the operation of the power stations, project equipment, and flood control structures which may be remotely operated in some cases.
• Perform and direct required operating functions; assign operators to various stations including the control room for operating purposes and issue instructions to other project operators in carrying out project operating functions.
• Retain responsibility for authorization, preparation, issuance, release and logging of all clearance and caution orders.
• Provide required training in operating techniques and procedures, applicable safety rules, to operators, maintenance journeymen and trainees.
• In emergency or trouble cases, operate the station in accordance with standing orders and in accordance with own best judgment in the interest of protection of personnel and equipment and to restore normal operations.
