About the Position This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized for highly qualified candidates Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment may be authorized.Duties
- Perform duties as a Physician (Neurology) assigned to, Department of Medicine, Neurology Service. Works under the general supervision of the Chief, Neurology Service and Chief, Department of Medicine.
- May be required to perform duties in both outpatient and inpatient settings as well as provide on call/call back services as required.
- Provide the assessment and care of patients with any physical and/or neuropsychiatric condition that disrupts normal brain function resulting in impaired cognition and/or behavior
- Procedures are generally performed in conjunction with office visits or consultations, such as: lumbar punctures, chemo denervation, nerve blocks, subcutaneous / intramuscular injections, (EEGs), nerve conduction studies, and (EMGs).
- Exercise admitting privileges for patients requiring inpatient care or observation, write and/or review initial orders and prepare and/or review notes; coordinate all inpatient and observation unit admissions with the appropriate staff.
- Participate in the GME of neurology residents, off-service residents, allied health residents, medical students and other medical trainees; Serve as a key faculty member for the neurology residency in support of the neurology program director.
- Serve as a physician specialized in neurological practice in the Neurology Clinic and as Neurology consultant to the inpatient medicine wards.
- Responsible for the examination, diagnosis and treatment of the full range of outpatients seen in the clinic and inpatient wards.
